A user should be able to sit in front of a computer equipped with a web camera, and the program would be able to capture the photo of the user and through various modules, process the photo and name the user.
Currently there are existing separate modules that perform separate functions. For example, the face classification module uses SSD as feature. An optional component of the research is to investigate other features to be used for classification, in particular the use of wavelets. This might improve the accuracy of the system.
The significance of this research would be to provide a basis for future development of many applications, such as surveillance, digital personal assistant, and camera-equipped cell-phones, which require individual face recognition.
