My interests lie at the intersection of human-computer
interaction, systems, and security and privacy. One current
area of research is in ubiquitous computing, using sensor
based technologies to enable new ways of communicating
and coordinating with others. Two issues we are investigating
include better uses of location-based services, and helping
people manage privacy and security in smart environments.
Another current area of research is in anti-phishing, protecting
people from fake emails that impersonate legitimate people and
organizations. We have developed a series of fun and effective
training mechanisms, coupled with machine learning approaches
that can automatically detect fake phishing emails and web pages.
