Human-Computer Interaction

We view human-computer interaction as a broad, dynamic discipline that values comfort, usability, effectiveness, enjoyment and community, and considers personal, professional and social interests. Computing technologies have become integrated into the everyday lives of people in the developed world and affect people all over the world. HCI researchers at CMU care deeply about how this is happening and focus on research that will havea substantial influence in our research community. Most of our research projects involve faculty, students, and staff with training in several disciplines, including computer science, interaction design, and psychology. We focus on research in learning technologies, tools and technology, human assistance, people and robots, arts and entertainment, and collaborative environments.
