Dual PhD Programs CMU-Portugal in Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (CSD) of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University offers a dual degree PhD program in Computer Science in cooperation with several Portuguese universities. This PhD program is part of the activities of the Information and Communication Technologies Institute (ICTI), resulting from a Portugal-CMU partnership agreement. To be admitted to the dual degree program, you need to be admitted to the Portuguese partner program and at Carnegie Mellon University.

In your statement of purpose, you need to mention the Portuguese partner institution you are simultaneously applying to. Currently, this can be one of the following:

- MAP-I consortium, composed of the the Universidade do Minho, the Universidade de Aveiro, and the Universidade do Porto
- Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia, Universidade de Coimbra
- Faculdade de Ciencias, Universidade de Lisboa
- Faculdade de Cienciase e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa
