Office and Lab Space Allocation

The School of Computer Science is responsible for maintaining offices and laboratories for all of its activities. The space is allocated by the School to the departments. Department Heads advise the Dean of their new or additional space needs; the Dean then submits a request to the Provost. There are general SCS guidelines for sizes of offices based on rank, etc.

It is the job of the Department Head, and department space committees, to oversee the assignment of space, taking into account current and future needs.

The Department Heads try to accommodate and respond to the needs of faculty and to the needs of projects as much as possible while maintaining flexibility internally, and negotiate for more and better space externally.
