To lead in Computer Science research and education that has real world impact.

Since our inception forty years ago we have had a broad view of our field and have continued to define and redefine what computer science is. Our mission continues to hold today: to push the frontiers of the field, and to produce the next generation’s leaders of our field.

As we forge forward with our mission, the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon will lead the way toward our field’s grand vision of making computational thinking commonplace.
